Summer Day Camp for Thornhill Families — Summer Camp 2027

Thornhill families looking for a summer day camp do not have to look far for a teacher-led, active, and creative summer. Humberwood Academy's Summer Day Camp welcomes children from Thornhill to our Vaughan camp locations, where every day is led by OCT-certified teachers and experienced educators.

A note about where camp takes place: there is no Humberwood camp building in Thornhill. Our camp is in Vaughan, at Kleinburg Public School, 10391 Islington Ave, Kleinburg, and at 171 Maria Antonia Rd, Woodbridge. Thornhill families in Vaughan, near the Vaughan and Richmond Hill border, choose Humberwood because the camp is close to home, the days are structured, and the programme is the same at both Vaughan locations. If you are a Thornhill parent, you can choose the Vaughan location that works best for your family, and we are happy to help you decide — call (416) 616-5446 or email info@humberwoodacademy.com.

For Thornhill children ages 4 to 12, plus 3.5-year-olds starting Kindergarten in September, camp is a chance to spend the summer building, exploring, creating, and playing with new friends. Mornings focus on hands-on learning, including hands-on STEM, core academics in literacy and math, and creative challenges. Afternoons are for outdoor sports, team games, creative arts, and outdoor and wilderness activities. There is also dance during art week, and leadership activities that help children practise working in a team, taking turns, and encouraging each other.

What a camp week looks like for a Thornhill camper

No two days are exactly alike, and no two weeks are either. Each week has a theme that shapes the projects, games, and creative work, so a child can come for one week and enjoy a full programme, or come for several weeks and find something new each time. The six weekly themes for Summer Camp 2027 are Junior Inventors and Hands-On Engineering; Wilderness Survival and Outdoor Eco-Lab; Studio Fine Arts and Creative Crafts; Global Codebreakers and Secret Agent Mysteries; Active Leadership and World Sports Games; and Storybook and Character Builders.

In Junior Inventors week, campers build and test their own designs. In Wilderness Survival week, they learn outdoor and eco skills. In Studio Fine Arts week, they create art and crafts, with dance as part of art week. In Global Codebreakers week, they work together to solve mysteries and puzzles. In Active Leadership week, they play sports from around the world and learn how to lead a team. In Storybook week, they invent characters and build stories around them. Bike Camp is also available for ages 4 to 8, for children who want to build confidence on a bike.
